RUSTAM KU AZMI has over 15 years of working experience of which the last 8 years was spent in private equity. He started his career in private equity as an Investment Manager in the Private Equity Division of one of the largest Islamic bank in the world which has US$100m third party funds under management before moving up to senior management positions in other private equity firms. Under private equity, Rustam was responsible for managing healthcare, retail &services and manufacturing portfolios and was directly involved in deal sourcing, structuring, execution, monitoring and exit/divestments of companies under these industries.
Prior to his private equity experience, Rustam was attached to the Corporate Finance Division in an investment bank for 4 years and was involved in various corporate exercises including project finance advisory and listing of high growth and technological companies on the Malaysian stock exchange. He was also instrumental in developing the business of listing of debt instruments (Islamic and conventional) on the Labuan International Financial Exchange for the investment bank.
Prior to private equity and corporate finance/investment banking, Rustam gained his operational experience by spending a combined 4 years with a financial information service provider and before that with an automotive manufacturer in the United Kingdom as a business analyst.
Rustam holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. He has also successfully completed his Securities Commission Licensing Examinations for Fund Managers.
